We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, and it’s finally here: the Green Neighbours Network of Toronto now has a fresh, vibrant website—built by and for our grassroots community! By highlighting our collaborative spirit, action‑oriented mindset, and shared commitment to a greener, more equitable Toronto, this redesign offers far more than just a fresh look. And best of all, getting involved is easier than ever.

Note: The new site is currently in Beta, which means you’re getting an early look while we continue testing and fine-tuning. We welcome your feedback as we roll out new features and improve the experience.

Guided by Your Feedback

One of the key drivers behind this redesign was the user experience research we conducted in 2024. Through surveys, interviews, and usability testing, we gained valuable insights into how our community uses the site—and where things needed to improve.

Here’s what we heard:

  • You told us you wanted more ways to connect—so we made it easier to message friends, join groups, and take part in forum discussions.
  • You asked for a simple way to share events and stay in the loop—so we added a quick, user-friendly event submission tool.
  • You wanted a space to chat, ask questions, and swap ideas—so we created a dedicated forum where conversations can grow.
  • You wanted simpler navigation and clearer language—so we streamlined the layout and added a robust search tool to help you find what you need faster.
  • You asked for more stories and resources—so we expanded our blog and resource sections with fresh content and community voices.
  • You said some areas weren’t intuitive or accessible—so we redesigned them to be more user-friendly and inclusive for everyone.

To everyone who participated in the research process: thank you! Your feedback, honesty, and time helped us build a better space for everyone in the GNN community.

Guided by Your Feedback

As GNN grows, our online hub needed to keep pace. This redesign highlights the amazing work happening across Toronto’s neighbourhoods, celebrates our diverse membership, and puts grassroots climate action front and centre. Every feature and update reflects the connection and collaboration that define GNN.

We respectfully acknowledge this land and the history of the many Indigenous peoples who have lived here for millennia. The meeting place of Toronto - from the Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk) word Tkaronto - remains the home of many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to be here together to share and to care for the land – Chi Miigwetch.
