Description

We are a grassroots group working to bring back nature at the South Kingsway Humber River Park.

We promote conservation and appreciation of the Humber River and the Toronto Ravine and Park located at the bottom of South Kingsway in the city of Toronto. The park is situated on the Carrying Place Trail, an important Indigenous trail leading from Lake Ontario to Lake Simcoe. The park is home to many species of birds and mammals. The focus of the group is to bring more awareness to this beautiful spot within the city of Toronto to enjoy nature and reflect on our history.

We work in partnership with Toronto Nature Stewards to remove litter and invasive species, and promote native species. We also organize guided tours of the Humber River ecosystem! Covering biodiversity, the importance of native species, and Indigenous values, these walks help us learn more about this important Toronto watershed.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge this land and the history of the many Indigenous peoples who have lived here for millennia. The meeting place of Toronto - from the Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk) word Tkaronto - remains the home of many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to be here together to share and to care for the land – Chi Miigwetch.
