We’re excited to introduce the improved GNN Events Calendar—your new go-to space for promoting and discovering grassroots environmental happenings across Toronto.  From planting trees to hosting a repair café, organizing a neighbourhood walk—or something entirely new—your event now has a more visible, user-friendly home on our site.

Why Use the Events Calendar?

Our calendar is built to bring Toronto’s grassroots climate network closer together. It’s:

  • Easy to Use & DIY– Submit your event in just a few clicks.
  • Seamless – Listings blend right into our website’s look and feel.
  • Community‑Focused – Reach more people who care about local action.
  • Mobile‑Friendly – Browse and submit on any device.
  • All in One Place – A single hub for workshops, meet‑ups, info sessions, and more.

Who Can Submit?

All registered GNN members have instant access to the submission form. Not a member yet? Sign up in minutes (it’s free!) and you’ll be ready to share your events.

How to Add Your Event

Step 1: Log In to your GNN Account

Go to gnntoronto.ca and click Log In at the top right corner of the page.

Enter your email and password and click Log In.

Step 2: Open the Events Calendar

In the main navigation, go to Events › Events Calendar.

Once the page loads, scroll down just below the calendar and click Submit Your Event.

On the event management page, select Add New.

Step 3: Complete the Event Form

Fill out the form using the guide below:

a. Event Name

Give your event a clear, descriptive name so others know what to expect.

b. Group Association

If you’re an admin of a Member Group, you can link the event to your group. Use the dropdown under “Not a Group Event” to select your group name. This ensures your event appears on your group page too.

c. Recurring Events

Hosting something regularly? Check the box for “This is a recurring event” and enter the date range and times accordingly.

d. Location Type

Specify whether this is an in-person or virtual event. You can enter a physical location or a link (like a Zoom or Google Maps URL).

e. Details

Use this section to describe your event. Include key info like what it’s about, who it’s for, what to bring, and why it matters.

f. Category

Use the dropdown to tag your event:

  • Member Group – for events hosted by GNN member groups
  • Other – for public, general interest, or partner events

g. Event Image

Uploading a banner image helps your event stand out. Recommended dimensions are 900 x 520 px, under 5MB, in .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format.
Don’t have a banner? You can use this placeholder image.

Step 4: Submit for Review

Once everything looks good, click Submit Event at the bottom.

Our team will review your submission and publish it to the calendar (and we might even feature it in our newsletter or social media!).

Top Tips for a Stand‑Out Listing

• Write a clear, engaging event name
• Keep your description concise and compelling
• Add a high quality image to catch the eye
• Double check date, time, and contact details

The meeting place of Toronto - from the Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk) word Tkaronto - remains the home of many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island.
