Learn to Fish is a free, hands-on program that introduces participants to the basics of recreational fishing in Ontario. Led by experienced instructors, this session covers fish identification, equipment, local regulations, and sustainable practices, followed by an opportunity to try fishing alongside knowledgeable staff. The program is open to everyone aged 6 and up, including adults, teens, and children. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Spaces are limited and registration is required, with sign-up opening two weeks before each event. No prior experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. It’s a great way to build outdoor skills, connect with nature, and enjoy the waterfront at Biidaasige Park.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge this land and the history of the many Indigenous peoples who have lived here for millennia. The meeting place of Toronto - from the Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk) word Tkaronto - remains the home of many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to be here together to share and to care for the land – Chi Miigwetch.
