When

February 10, 2026
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Where

Karma Co-op
739 Palmerston Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M6G 2R3

Event Type

Fabric mending workshop using hand sewing techniques.

Free to Attend (Everyone’s Welcome!)

Location: Member’s room at Karma Co-op.

Do you have a favourite garment that has a hole, a tear or rip, or a seam that has opened? Bring a garment to this workshop and our fabric repair fixers will work with you to determine an approach to mend your garment using hand sewing.

You will learn some techniques for repairing holes, types of possible repairs and stitches, how to choose and prepare your patch, thread and needle, and how to secure your stitches.

Please assess your item to see if the fabric is strong enough to be mended: hold it up to the light, and if it is thin and light shines through where it is worn, there is not enough life left in the fabric for it to be repaired. In this case, please choose another item to fix.

While sometimes a sewing machine would aid in a repair, in this workshop we’ll focus on repairs you can make while sewing by hand.

Please note: All fabric items need to have recently been washed.
